Recently, I received an email update showing me a PowerPoint tip that I did not know about and so I decided to share it with you. I had been seeing other people create entire paragraphs of random text and I wondered how they generated these text. Many of them are “Lorem ipsum” texts which I know you’re familiar with.
My first move was to google it and find websites that generate these random texts and I found this one here. I even bookmarked it so I could easily access it whenever I needed it.
But then, I found another tip among others, if you’re working in PowerPoint. You can type some text in and it converts those text to Lorem ipsum random text for you.
The simple steps to creating these are:
1. Create a shape.
2. Type in “=lorem(x)” where x is the number of paragraphs needed.
3. Hit Enter
And that’s it!
Extra Tip: It won’t work in a text box or Microsoft Word document directly but you can create a shape first, generate the text and copy and paste it anywhere you wish to use it.
UPDATE: A reader has called my attention to the fact that it doesn’t work for more than 3 paragraphs. A simple workaround is to generate these 3 and then copy and paste it into as many paragraphs as needed.
Have you discovered this tip? Do you use this to save time finding lorem ipsum random text while working in PowerPoint?
Doesn’t work correctly for me. I create a shape, Type in =lorem(5) and I just get 3 paragraphs. I t will never give me 5.
Thanks TPhillips for your comment & for noting this; I checked and it’s true. A simple workaround is to copy & paste what you have into as many paragraphs as you need, after all its dummy text.
Thanks again!
Hey there just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same results.|
Many thanks for this info I has been hunting all Yahoo in order to locate it!
